Environment Questions (Remember, if the answer for some questions is less green than it could be, then an explanation why is helpful for readers)

  • To what extent and how effectively does the company recycle (printer paper is great, but only the beginning)?
  • What systems are in place to support employees getting to work via low emission options (bike, public transport, car pool)?
  • Are office supplies from sustainable sources?
  • How does the company ensure the energy efficiency of it's operations (buildings, offices, storefronts, factories)?
  • How does the company monitor the Environmental standards of subcontractors?
  • How does the company ensure that the suppliers for products use from sustainable manufacturing process and resources themselves?
  • Is electricity from renewable sources?
  • Does the company source food from sustainable and/or local agriculture?
  • Are there specific corporate policies and/or business model support/enforce the environmentally sustainable behavior of suppliers, partners, employees or customers?

Community Questions

  • Do all employees receive a living wage ($11 is a widely accepted benchmark in urban US. Other countries will vary.)
  • Do Employees receive health insurance (Do their partners and families regardless of sex)?
  • What Charitable giving or participation does the organization do?
  • How does the company ensure that it's presence in a community has a positive impact? This is important on the production side, or on the customer/client facing side.
  • How does the company ensure that discrimination on the basis of Sex, Race or Sexual Orientation doesn't occur)
  • How are employee relations, specifically withregard to safety and labor unions.
  • Is there any incidence of human rights abuse or the support of abusive situations?
  • Do the company ensure that any third party subcontracting, whether outsourced to another country or not (cleaning services, etc.) adheres to the same standards the company professes?
  • Do corporate policies and/or business model support/enforce the good behavior of companies, people etc.?
  • Are franchise owners required to adhere to the standards shown in the answers to the rest of the questions.

  • For large companies the most common sources are online, please link to these using an asterisk next to the information you are citing.
To link the asterisk to the web page: highlight it and clickon the link button (centered just above the text box you are editing). This will bring up a window. Click web link at the top of the window and then enter the web addres in the text box labelled 'link'.
  • For small companies, the source will most often be an employee, an owner, a representative of a partner company or a customer.
Any time the source is a person, please cite them by name and relationship to the company in the discussion page (Please put "see discussion page for sources" at the bottom of the entry). Some people working at a company may not want their identities disclosed. If you would prefer to remain annonymous (got some negative environmental information about your employer), please contact us at info@scryve.com to be made a certified annonymous source. We will verify that you are who you say you are (you will have to tell us your name and position, sorry), but we will not release your name. That way we ensure our information stays accurate, and you don't need to disclose who you are.
